Simple & Fun Crafts for even the absolute beginner.
Paperband is strong and durable so it's perfect for weaving baskets, and totes. No matter your age, with a few tools that you probably already have, it's easy and fun to paper weave.
Over 100 weaving techniques!
Paper weaving is derived from the traditional Japanese craft of weaving Bamboo, which had over 100 ways to weave. For our Instructor Course Program we've chosen a select number of weaving patterns from the countless patterns to apply in our course. Even if you've never crafted with Paperband before, our program is designed to be fun while learning.
Why KEA?
There is a reason why KEA is chosen by our members. While there are many programs that teach Paperband crafts, paper weaving, KEA is the only one in Japan that has been certified by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan. Membership comprises over 4,500 members active in Japan, USA, Taiwan, South Korea, Singapore, UK, and Indonesia (2020).
About KEA
KEA aims to cultivate instructors with the knowledge of Paperband and associated crafts - hobbies that are valuable, rooted in tradition, and friendly to Japan’s global environment. Our goal is to spread and promote craft production technology in the world.
In 2013, the KraftBand Ecology Association (KEA) was established, and created its own systematic curriculum.
Within our curriculum, our instructors-to-be create actual projects, and we carry out correspondence education so that they can acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to be successful. We are developing a business that impartially and accurately certifies instructors who have a wide variety of production abilities, skills, and knowledge so that they can articulately convey them to many people.
